From: Kimberly Wasserman - Community Organizer Testimony for CTA Board Meeting January 2006 Good morning, my name is Kimberly Wasserman. I am the coordinator for the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization, and a life long resident of Chicago. I am here today in solidarity with State Representatives, Congressman, Alderman, organizations, and all of the outraged residents of Chicago. Those of us who can’t afford $2 each time we set foot on a train or bus. Those of us who don’t have checking accounts or whose checking account can’t afford another automatic withdrawal a month for the plus card. What are we to do when even the regular cards convenient refill station is a $4 bus ride away. I like thousands of other residents have no choice but to stand together and say NO! I work in 1 hour a day for the price of milk and juice. Now 2 hours of my work is just to pay for the 3 buses ($6 each way). So Mr. Krusi unless you can hire me for more money, how about lowering the price, accept the gas or give me a ride to work everyday. Letter from the Neighborhood Capital Budget Group
