Saturday May 3rd LVEJO Open House and Membership Meeting
On Saturday, May 3rd
LVEJO hosted its Spring Open House. Over 40 folks came through, despite
the rainy cold weather, to learn more about LVEJO, the campaigns and the
organization. Campaign volunteers hosted display boards, film
screenings, handouts and other information at each campaign station.
This event was able to bring create intergenerational, multi racial
dialogues both along campaign issues but as well community issues. LVEJO
is honored to work with such amazing members and volunteers. We
graciously would like to thank the following individuals for

During the Open House
LVEJO was proud to have hosted the Chicago Community Bike Project. CCBP
hosted a free bike clinic for local residents who wanted to learn how to
fix a bike or needed to have repairs done. We invite you to visit

this wonderful organization.

LVEJO is also proud to have hosted
the DePaul environmental student group Environmental Concerns
Organization (ECO). These amazing students came out in the rain and cold
and helped Eduardo Anaya, Urban Agriculture Organizer and Sr. Barega.
volunteer turn the dirt and prep 6 gardens in and around LVEJO. We
greatly appreciate there time, dedication and willingness to work in bad
weather to help make our gardens beautiful for 2008.

After the Open House, LVEJO hosted
it’s first Annual Spring Membership Meeting. Members were updated on
current campaigns and organizational structure followed by membership
presentations for voting and fundraising. We are honored to be able to
host this first membership meeting and give LVEJO members the
opportunity to have more stake both in the organization as well as in
the campaigns and community. The next membership meeting will be in Fall

Every Year LVEJO hosts a Volunteer Appreciation Holiday Dinner in which we recognize the hard work, commitment and amazing talents our volunteers,
leaders and staff put towards improving the environment. In thanking these amazing individuals we also host a awards ceremony for Organizer of the Year
and Friends of the Environment.
In 2008 we are proud to announce: Marisol Becerra as Organizer of the Year
As an organization we nominate and award Friends of the Environment to those individuals who contributed their time and resources to help move both the
organization and campaign forward.
